Overpass Returns Replacing Anubis in CS2 Competitive Premier Season 3

Overpass Returns Replacing Anubis in CS2 Competitive Premier Season 3

Valve has just released a new update for Counter-Strike 2, marking the start of Premier Season Three. The most notable change is the return of Overpass, which replaces Anubis in the competitive map pool.
This is the first active duty map change of 2025, showing that Valve is aiming to refresh the pro play experience.

Overpass Replaces Anubis?

Overpass is a classic CS map that was removed back in April 2024 to make room for Dust2. Now, it’s back while Anubis, which joined the pool in November 2022, has been removed for the first time in nearly 3 years.

Why the change?
It seems Anubis had serious balance issues in 2025, heavily favoring the Terrorist side. Removing it is a smart move to keep competitive play fair.

CTs Get a Small Buff

The update also brings tweaks to the game’s economy, especially for the Counter-Terrorist side:

  • CTs now earn an extra $50 per kill, win or lose.

  • This helps them stay equipped throughout the match and reduces economic pressure.

MP9 Nerfed, Incendiary Grenades Buffed

Two key weapon changes:

  • MP9: Nerfed – now has more recoil and less accuracy while jumping. At $1,250, it was a popular choice for force buys, so this nerf makes sense.

  • Incendiary Grenades: Buffed – fire spreads faster, making them better for area control. Great news for tactical players who focus on map control.

New Security Feature – “Protected Items”

Valve also added a helpful new security tool:

Players can now cancel all item trades from the past 7 days if their account is hacked or scammed.

This gives players more confidence when trading and helps protect valuable skins.
