On Friday, July 4, 2025, the global Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) community was stunned when a Vietnamese player unlocked one of the rarest and most expensive skins in the game’s history: the Talon Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem.
What Makes This Skin So Special?

CS2 is famous for its valuable weapon skins. Some items have been sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars on online marketplaces. The Talon Knife Blue Gem belongs to the “Case Hardened” skin series, but its unique Blue Gem pattern makes it extremely rare and highly desirable.
While regular Talon Knife skins usually sell for $300 to $1,000, this Blue Gem version is estimated to be worth over $200,000 USD—nearly 5 billion VND.
How Did It Happen?
The news was first shared anonymously in a Vietnamese CS2 community group. The post quickly gained attention, with more than 1,500 likes and 600 comments. The lucky player unlocked the skin from a weapon case, which can be earned through gameplay or purchased directly. To open case, players need a key that costs between $2 and $15 depending on rarity.
Why Is It So Rare?

Getting a Case Hardened skin is already difficult, but unlocking the Blue Gem version is even harder. It’s considered a one-of-a-kind item in CS2. Even well-known players struggle to get it. For example, Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, CEO of 100 Thieves, spent $15,000 opening cases and only received two items worth $300.
CS2’s Skin Economy

Although CS2 is free to play, it has a massive and active skin economy. Players can buy, sell, and trade skins freely. In the past, rare skins have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The most expensive skin ever sold is the AK-47 StatTrak Case Hardened Factory New Blue Gem, which reportedly sold for over $1 million USD.
The seller, known as “roflm0nster,” confirmed to IGN that the deal was worth seven figures. He said, “I’ve turned down multiple $1 million offers. You can guess the final price.”
What’s Next?
The Vietnamese player who unlocked the Talon Knife Blue Gem has chosen to remain anonymous and has not made any public statements. But one thing is certain: this skin is now part of CS2 history.
